How to loose belly fat

How many times have you been to the doctors and seen that chart full of numbers and colors directing you to your body mass index numbers?  For years this BMI was what the medical field used to measure your risks of getting such illnesses as heart disease, certain cancers, and diabetes.  However, researchers have not discovered that those numbers are not what you should go by after all.  What makes it so much harder to believe is that we have used such indexes as ways to help us loose belly fat for years.

What researchers now are able to understand is the logic between muscle density and fat.  When you take two people of the same height and weight you will come up with the same BMI.  However, if you look closer at their body types you can see that one may have much more muscle than fat.  But in the grand scheme of things this person would still be considered possibly as being over weight because the medical community would claim that the BMI numbers don’t lie.  So what exactly does this have to do with trying to loose belly fat?

Now researchers have been able to point out the real risks of belly fat like targeted areas.  For example, a real risk area is your tummy. If you have a lot of fat in that area you have higher risks for health issues than when it is in your hips or thighs.  So imagine the mistaken idea that a person with targeted belly fat walking away with the assurance that their relatively low BMI was good for them.  So if you want to stay healthy then you will look at your body type and work to loose belly fat rather than the extra pounds in your hips or rear.

The reasoning behind this belly fat theory is that the particular area is “metabolically active” meaning that it could increase your risk for certain cancers like colon cancer because of the extra fat raising some hormone levels that normally affect cell growth.  This theory makes it especially dangerous for women because women have a higher risk of it already.  But there is hope out there for those with stubborn belly fat to lose in the way of staying away from Trans fats.

When it comes to getting rid of belly fat it is not just about what you should eat but also what you should not eat.  And some of the worse fats out there to put into your body are Trans fats that can be found in such things as vegetable oil.  It is these fats that put us all at higher risk for heart disease as well as increase your belly fat.  However, there are a few more great tips to help loose belly fat.  For example, did you know that if you got more sleep each night that you would help to increase such chemicals as leptin and reduce your gaining more belly fat?

Those that have problems with sleeping end up lowering their levels of this natural chemical which is a protein that helps to suppress your appetite.  Furthermore, if you are better able to manage your stress you will see that you will have less fat around your middle.  The reason for this is that when you become stressed out your body releases hormones like adrenaline, cortisol, and insulin.  And what these do is mess with your appetite and fat production.  So with a little better management of what you take in and how you live your life you too can loose belly fat.
